Our travelers love us!

I had a wonderful experience with Slovenia Explorer and would highly recommend them to anyone visiting Ljubljana and Slovenia.

A special thank you must go to Urska, who went above and beyond to help me secure a place on the tour at very short notice. She responded quickly, took the trouble to sort everything out for me, and was genuinely warm and helpful throughout. Her kindness even extended to a thoughtful little gift of Slovenian chocolate — completely unexpected and very much appreciated!

Our driver and guide, Nina, was equally excellent. She welcomed us with a warm smile and was friendly, attentive and helpful throughout the day. She is a very good and careful driver, and made the entire excursion relaxed and enjoyable.

I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and came away with some wonderful memories of Slovenia. What impressed me most, however, was the personal touch. Slovenia Explorer may be a tour company, but Urska and Nina made me feel more like a welcomed guest than simply another customer.

Thank you, Urska, Nina and the Slovenia Explorer team for your warmth, hospitality and excellent service. You contributed greatly to making my visit to beautiful Slovenia such a memorable one.

Highly recommended! 🇸🇮

What a brilliant day! We had free time (just less than 4 hours) at Lake Bled. Having set off from Ljubljana first thing, we got there before the very busy times. We decided not to go on a boat or go to the castle but instead walked around the lake, hiked up to a viewpoint and swam in the lake as well as having time for a coffee stop and lunch. If you did want to get on a boat or similar, you were helped to find one. During the afternoon, we were taken around the national park - seeing little villages, huge mountains and beautiful scenery everywhere. Our guide, Nina, was hugely knowledgeable about national history, the natural world and she just seemed to love what she did. She gave us just the right level of detail but was also happy to answer our questions too. Plus, she was a very safe driver! We'd definitely recommend this tour.

Lake Bled is stunning, and Slovenia Explorer made getting there from Ljubljana easy. Our small group (four people in total) was a huge plus — our guide was flexible and let each group shape their own experience. Another couple wanted beach time while my husband and I wanted to visit the castle, and the guide made both happen. Perfect half-day trip.

Our guide was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable and guided us to all the activities. It was a smaller tour group, so she was able to tailor the tour for everyone with different options. With all the travels I've been on, this was one of the best tour experiences. Felt like a boutique tour with group tour prices.

This was probably our favourite tour on our 3 week holiday. Three breathtaking attractions that were absolutely amazing in different ways, but each experience was enhanced by the wonderful, fascinating commentary our guide, Tomaz, provided on the journey. Absolutely brilliant. Easy, professional, interesting and a wonderful guide who gave us lots of information about the history behind each attraction on the way and lots of insights into Slovenian culture and all the other things to see! We finished this tour and were sad we were not in Slovenia for longer, or we would have done more tours with Tomaz and Slovenian Explorer! Well done!

Highly recommend booking with this tour company over any others in Slovenia! We booked two tours through the lovely Urska at Slovenia Explorer: Skocjan Caves & Piran and also Soca Valley & Triglav National Park.
The pick up location was easy to find and very central.
Our tour guide, Issy, was incredible for both tours. He gave us lots of recommendations and insights.

The van was super spacious, air conditioned and comfortable.
We had 8 people on our first tour and 4 on our second. This size group was great for the sight seeing spots in comparison to some of the other tour groups with other companies we passed that had 10-15+ people which made it very difficult for them to get in crowded views and photos of some of the spots.
The views and spots we got to experience were just incredible! We had a great time. It was a good balance between guided and free time too.
We would 100% book with Slovenia Explorer again!

We did (3) day tours with them
All three guides spoke great English and were both informed and entertaining
Owner accommodated a better pickup spot at French Rev Monument just outside of no car zone
On our Soca valley tour our guide (George) had to react to road closure and rainy weather, his experience enabled us to make the best of it
Vans are newer and clean
Great operation to work with!

For my wife and I, our full day tour with Slovenia Explorer of this wonderful touristic catchment of Slovenia, as part of a group of 6, was an unforgettable delight. We took in all the highlights: Lake Bled; the island and church which you approach via a human-powered boat ride and should not fail to ring the bell of good fortune; the castle; an enchanting drive through the Triglav national park; and then stops at Kranjska Gora; the man-made lakes; the Zelenci “toomps” that feed the country’s mighty River Sava; and the ski jump venue where the prevailing men’s and women’s world records were set recently by Slovenian siblings as our wonderful guide and driver, Nina, narrated to us. And the weather also cooperated fully! But for us, Nina was really the dynamic force of the tour, both very professional and knowledgeable about her stuff yet also very personable. She would let us know in advance how the whole day was going to shape up; overview with us each leg of the tour; and, as the tour moved along, dial out a vast amount of information and explanations on Slovenia’s provenance that was unfolding before us, including its history, geography, flora, culture, architecture and sports, always in an easy to understand, attention-gripping and thrilling manner.....

A very enjoyable trip with our guide Jure. He is such a gentle guy with profound knowledge of Slovenia and the former Yugoslavia. He spoke good English with very professional attitude: friendly, on-time, patient to answer my questions. All the attractions were fully explored. I surely recommend this tour to all who wish to know sbout this amazing country.

I went on the day tour on September 19th and I would highly recommend it. Postojna cave and the areas around lake bled are steeped in natural beauty and historical sites. The tour guide for the journey was very friendly and knowledgeable, not to mention a safe driver.

Exceptional day visiting the « must-see » attractions outside Ljubljana. Great guide (and calm and safe-driving) too. Showed up right on time and brought us back happy. Guide was very knowledgeable about Slovenia history and very interested to learn about the history and culture of his clients. Don’t hesitate. They were also super helpful and easy to communicate with before and after the tour.

we did an one day slovenia day trip last year and had a very pleasant experience. we decided to come back here again.
we contacted the tour operator directly and customized our week long stay in slovenia. they were very helpful and professional. we were concerned about the weather, and they were able to modify last minute. our tour guide tomi was fantastic. we really enjoyed our stay in slovenia this time and would definitely recommend people using this tour company.

I traveled solo to Slovenia last July and booked several day trips with Slovenia Explorer. Every single one was fantastic. The booking office was responsive and helpful, and the guides were knowledgeable and friendly. We were able to enter sites such as Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle with no hassle or waiting. There were also zero gimmicks; the trips were solely focused on experiencing Slovenia. The transit vans kept the groups small and intimate and allowed for fast and convenient travel. I made "friends for the day" from all over the world, so I didn't feel alone on my trip. Not having to worry about the logistics allowed me to focus on the natural beauty in this gem of a country, and the guide commentary enriched my experience.

I was travelling solo and had taken the trip to Lake Bled and Triglav National Park organised by Slovenia Explorer, which turned out to be a fantastic experience. The person who handled my booking was very kind and helpful. On the day of the trip, our tour guide was very nice and knowledgeable, making us aware of all the historical insights and various details about Slovenia. It was truly a wonderful experience and Slovenia's breathtaking natural beauty totally captivated me!! Highly recommended!!

We had a tour from Ljubljana to lake Bled, lake Bohinj etc.. with an exceptional driver and tour guide (two in one person) Nina. She was so good driver and told us so many things about the places we went, Slovenia and their history. We was 5 people in our group and all of us very satisfied from this tour and our guide. Also the owner Gregory was very flexible, and friendly.
We had the best day of our trip. Hope be back to do it again. Thank you. Michail -Anna Maria

FAQ

What is the maximum group size for the scheduled day trips?

Our scheduled day trips stay small, with a maximum of 8 guests, in a comfortable minivan rather than a big coach. That means more time at each stop and plenty of attention from your licensed local guide.

What type of vehicle is used for transportation?

We travel in a comfortable, air-conditioned minivan with a maximum of 8 guests, never a big coach. The small-group setup keeps the day relaxed and personal, with more time at each stop.

Are your tour guides locals?

Yes. Every scheduled day trip is led by a licensed local guide-driver who lives in Slovenia, speaks proficient English, and is among the best-rated guides in the country. Slovenia Explorer has run guided tours since 2011 and welcomed more than 20,000 travelers.

Where is the central pick-up point for scheduled tours?

The meeting point for the scheduled day trips is in the centre of Ljubljana, Dalmatinova 10 (opposite the City Hotel), unless otherwise stated on your booking confirmation.

What's the latest time I can book a trip for the following day?

You can book up to 2 hours before departure, even on the same day of the trip, as long as there are seats available. So, feel free to book early in the morning for a spontaneous adventure!

Can I have free time on the tour if I don't want to visit the planned attractions?

Yes. Admissions to caves, castles and boat rides are optional and paid on the day, with prices shared upfront, so you only pay for the stops you choose. If you'd rather skip a planned attraction, you can use that time to explore at your own pace, just let your guide know on the day.

Can I pay entrance fees and extra costs with a card?

You will need to bring cash for a boat ride on Lake Bled. Everywhere else you can pay with a card. It's always advisable to carry some cash in Euros, especially in smaller towns and rural areas.
