FAQ

Do I need to be in shape before the tour?

Yes, a reasonable level of fitness is recommended for this 9-day hiking tour. While the moderate option features relatively easy hikes (2-3 hours per day, not including breaks), keep in mind that you'll be hiking on consecutive days. Some light physical activity beforehand will greatly enhance your enjoyment of the experience.

How do I choose between moderate and challenging hikes?

On our first day together, we will take the time to evaluate your comfort level and hiking pace as we embark on our journey along the trails. As we venture into the picturesque landscape, we'll engage in a casual discussion about your hiking experiences and preferences. If we discover that the trails are either more challenging than you anticipated or perhaps not as invigorating, we will happily tailor the itinerary to align with your individual abilities. Our goal is to create a fulfilling and enjoyable experience that allows you to fully immerse yourself in the beauty of nature while feeling confident and comfortable on each hike.

What should I bring?

Having the right hiking gear is crucial for ensuring both comfort and safety during your outdoor adventures. Start with a pair of sturdy hiking shoes or boots that provide good ankle support and have a durable, non-slip sole, as regular sneakers simply won't cut it on rugged terrain. Layering your clothing is key; opt for moisture-wicking base layers to keep sweat away from your body, insulating mid-layers like fleece for warmth, and a lightweight, windproof jacket to shield you from gusty breezes and unexpected weather changes.

Don’t forget to bring along a buff or scarf which can be versatile – it can keep your neck warm, serve as a headband, or even protect your face from sun and wind. Select weather-appropriate clothing; breathable fabrics in hot weather and insulated garments in colder conditions will keep you comfortable.

A well-fitted backpack is essential for carrying all your necessities, including snacks, a first aid kit, a map or GPS device, and any additional personal items you might need. Make sure to include a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated, along with hydration packs if you prefer hands-free drinking. If there’s anything specific you’re curious about regarding hiking gear or if you need recommendations tailored to your hiking plans, feel free to reach out!

Can you lend me the hiking poles?

Yes, hiking poles are available. Just let us know your needs, and we'll have them ready.

Is this tour available in spring, autumn, or winter?

We recommend summer, late spring, or early autumn for the best conditions. However, some easier hikes can be done in winter by experienced hikers with the right gear. Winter hikes require more fitness and preparation.

Can our group split into moderate and challenging groups?

Absolutely, we can split your group into smaller sections for a more personalized experience. However, please note that this will necessitate the addition of an extra guide, which will impact the overall cost.

What makes the Slovenian Hiking Trail special?

The Slovenian Mountain Trail is one of the oldest hiking trails in Europe. It offers a journey through Slovenia’s natural beauty, cultural heritage, history, and traditions, blending nature with urban charm. This tour covers some of its most beautiful parts, where you can collect stamps. You can always return to explore more of the trail at your own pace.

Can we hike Mount Triglav?

Absolutely! We can arrange an exciting guided expedition to Mount Triglav, which proudly stands as Slovenia's highest peak at 2,864 meters. This adventure offers a thrilling yet challenging hiking experience, perfect for those with a strong fitness level and prior hiking experience.

The trail features demanding segments, including steep ascents and exposed areas where via ferrata cables are installed for your safety and support. These cables will help you navigate the rugged terrain and maintain stability as you make your way to the summit.

To ensure a safe and informative experience, we can provide you with a professional guide who possesses extensive knowledge of the trail, local geology, and the stunning natural environment surrounding Triglav National Park. This expert will not only lead the way but also share insight into the rich cultural history and breathtaking scenery along the route.

If this sounds like an adventure you would like to embark on, please let us know, and we’ll be happy to assist you with the arrangements!
