Goriška Brda, the Tuscany of Slovenia
Slovenia's Goriška Brda region is the next hidden gem of Europe waiting to be discovered. It is a land of rolling hills covered with orchards and vineyards and dotted with small, forgotten villages. Have we mentioned the excellent wine? We will visit traditional and modern wineries, learn about the historical and cultural heritage and taste amazing local wines.
Vipava Valley & the Karst
Vipava is famous for its unique wines, local hospitality and remarkable landscape. The Vipava Valley, with its ancient villages and towns, lies beneath a mighty mountain range and has always been an important route to the Mediterranean. The locals are cheerful and hospitable and are known for their fruit and wine growing traditions as well as for their excellent cuisine.
Wine tasting in the Vipava Valley is a must. Lepa Vida is a boutique family-run winery with 8 hectares of vineyards where you can taste some of the best Slovenian wines, such as Sauvignion, Malvasia or Zelen.
Bizeljsko and the eastern border
Bizeljsko is another wine region in Slovenia that is best known for its sparkling wines. However, other varieties also thrive in this part of the country, which has one of the friendliest climates. Hidden in some of the wineries is another ethnological gem - the Repnice cellars with their centuries-old tradition, which has been revived in recent decades. Repnice cellars are a peculiarity of the Bizeljsko region and used to be used for storing beets and nowadays more for storing wine. If you want to taste a good sparkling wine and take beautiful photos, Bizeljsko is the perfect place, because it is surrounded by green hills with many vineyards between small villages and forests.
Maribor & Styria
Styria in northeastern Slovenia is a picturesque region of cultivated plains, rolling hills with vineyards and quaint towns and villages that offer a perfect combination of historical heritage and wine tasting. Admire the oldest vine in the world (Guinness Book certified).
