Daytrip highlights

Goriška Brda, the Tuscany of Slovenia

Slovenia's region of Goriška Brda is Europe's next hidden gem, waiting to be explored. This is a land of gently rolling hills, covered with orchards and vineyards and dotted with small, forgotten villages. Did we mentioned excellent wine?

We will visit traditional or modern wineries, learn about historical and cultural heritage, and taste amazing local wine.

Vipava Valley & The Karst

Vipava is famous for its unique wines, local hospitality and remarkable scenery. Dotted with old villages and towns, the Vipava valley is nested beneath a mighty mountain range and has always been an important path towards the Mediterranean. The locals are cheerful and hospitable, renowned for their fruit and wine growing traditions, as well as amazing cuisine.

Wine tasting in Vipava valley is a must-do. Lepa Vida is a boutique family-run winery with 8 hectares of vineyards where you can try some of the best Slovenian wines such as: sauvignion, malvasia or zelen.

Bizeljsko and the eastern frontier

Bizelsjko is another wine region in Slovenia, mainly famous for its sparkling wines. However, other sorts thrive in this part, which has one of the kindest climates in the country. Some of the wineries hide another ethnology gem - repnice cellars, with centuries long tradition which was revived in the last couple of decades. Repnice cellars is a peculiarity of Bizeljsko region and was once used to store turnips and now more commonly for wine storage. If you want to taste good sparkling wine and take some beautiful photos Bizeljsko is the perfect place, as it is covered with green hills with plenty of vineyards scattered between small villages and forests.

Maribor & Styria

Styria in nort-east Slovenia is a scenic region of cultivated flatlands, rolling hills with vineyards and quaint towns and villages, offering a perfect combination of historical heritage and wine tasting. Admire the oldest wine-producing grape vine in the world (Guinness book certified).
